Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information QuestUp Golf Tour (“the game”, “we”, “us”) collects, why, and the choices you have. We keep it short because we collect very little.
What we collect
If you play without an account, everything (your players, avatars, settings, gold, clubs and saved rounds) is stored only on your device, in your browser’s or app’s local storage. We never see it.
If you create an account, our game server stores:
- Account details: your username, your golfer name and avatar, a securely hashed version of your password and of your recovery code (we can’t read either), and sign-in tokens for your devices.
- Game progress: your gold, the clubs you own, your bag, and your Season Pass progress.
- Competition results: scores and the shot data for each hole you post to the Daily Challenge, Clubs, turn-based rounds and the Pro Tour. We use the shot data to check that scores are genuine.
- Social features: your friends list, friend requests, the players you block, your Quick Match rating, and reports you send or that are sent about you.
When you connect to our server, it sees your IP address. We use it only to keep the game working and safe (for example, to limit how many requests one connection can make). We don’t store it with your account.
Phone controller: when you use your phone as a controller, its motion sensors (gyroscope and accelerometer) are read only while you’re in a game. The readings are turned into a swing on your phone and in the game. We don’t store them on our server.
Online matches: while you play online, your golfer name, avatar, shots and quick chat messages are sent to the other players in that match. Chat isn’t saved.
We don’t collect your email address, phone number, real name, location, contacts or payment details.
How we use it
- To run your account and the online features: sign-in, matchmaking, friends, clubs, leaderboards and the Pro Tour.
- To keep play fair and safe: verifying scores, stopping cheating, rate-limiting abuse, and reviewing reports about names or behavior.
- To fix problems with the game.
Who can see it
- Other players see your username or golfer name, avatar, club, ratings and results on leaderboards. They also see your online status if you’re friends.
- Service providers that host or connect the game server (for example, our hosting provider, or Cloudflare when an online game is shared with an invite link). They process data only to provide that service.
- The law: we may share information if we’re legally required to, or to protect players or the game from harm.
How long we keep it
We keep your account information for as long as you have an account. Daily Challenge leaderboards are kept for about two months. Sign-ins on other devices expire after a long time unused.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time in the game: Account → Delete account. This permanently removes your username, password, recovery code, gold and clubs, Season Pass progress, friends, blocks, rating and club membership, and signs out every device. Results already in finished events stay, because they’re part of other players’ results too, but they show as “Deleted player” and are no longer linked to you. Local data on your device stays until you clear it or uninstall the game.
Security
Passwords and recovery codes are stored only as salted scrypt hashes. Online connections use HTTPS. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a password you don’t use anywhere else.
Children
The online features of the game aren’t directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them. Children under 13 can play offline without an account. If you believe a child under 13 has made an account, contact us and we’ll delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date above. If the change is significant, we’ll also tell you in the game.
